The management of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC has commenced the sale of kerosene to residents of Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria at 50 Naira per litre. At an exercise monitored in Sagamu Local Government Area, residents commended the efforts of the Buhari led administration in keeping with his electioneering campaign promises. They however asked the management to the NNPC to ensure the continuity of the initiative to bring a new lease of life to the people. Nigerian ‘Prophet’ T.B. Joshua has released another controversial YouTube clip, claiming he predicted the tragic Russian plane crash in Egypt well over one year ago. On Sunday 31st August 2014, the cleric, who is famed for his alleged ability to foretell the future, warned of an impending plane crash involving Russia. “It will not be between Ukraine and Russia this time but a close region, a neighbouring region,” he stated, warning passenger planes to be careful of the routes they take over such volatile areas. I am seeing a full load of passengers crash again,” he declared. The Court of Appeal has ruled that the trial of Senate President, Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, is in order and should proceed. Justice Moore Adumen, on Thursday morning, read the verdict of the three man panel, stating that the Code of Conduct Tribunal, was properly constituted. The ruling of the court went thus: “The CCT is a court of criminal jurisdiction, albeit limited jurisdiction.” “The immediate question is whether it is a court or not. There is no inherent difference between a court and a tribunal. The only difference is that tribunals in most cases handle special cases. The tribunal has power to impose sanctions according to the law. It is a court with specific criminal jurisdiction.”

President Muhammadu Buhari  has sacked the Director General of the State Security Service,  Ita Ekpenyong. In his place, he has appointed  Lawal Musa Daura  as new head of the agency, which services as Nigeria’s secret police. The appointment was conveyed today in a letter by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation,  Barrister Danladi Kifasi. The appointment is with immediate effect.

The executions, for a supposed breach of sharia law, were carried out on Sunday and Monday respectively, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring group based in Britain, said. In separate executions, both women were put to death alongside their husbands in Deir ez-Zour province – the first in Deir ez-Zour city on Sunday, the second in Mayadin on Monday after being accused of using un-Islamic medicine by the extremist group. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has extended the Bank Registration Verification (BVN) deadline to Oct. 31, to accommodate customers who had thronged the banks to beat an earlier closing date. This was contained in a circular issued by the apex bank and signed by Mr Dipo Fatokun, Director, Banking and Payment System Department, in Abuja on Tuesday. “It has come to our notice that the BVN registration has elicited tremendous interest from the Nigerian bank customers who crowded the banking halls in order to beat the deadline. “In view of the foregoing, it has become imperative for the banks to extend the timeline for all customers to have the BVN. “The deadline for the enrolment is hereby extended from June 30 to October 31,” it stated. According to the statement, the extension is expected to facilitate a smooth completion of the registration exercise. It further stated that the extension would give Nigerian bank customers in the Diaspora, ample time to enrol into the pr

Former national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande has described the ongoing leadership crisis in the National Assembly as a rebellion financed by some persons among the elite and oil subsidy barons to frustrate President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption stance.
